This trip was the first outing I was a part of in 2020. Given the COVID-19 restrictions and the attention I was required to dedicate to the pharmacy, I was looking forward to some trail time! This destination is about 3 hours and 40 minutes from my home in Ohio. It was the first overnight stay out of town for me since COVID-19 started, so I had originally planned to do my best to limit my time in a hotel room. But that is a pretty long drive to be waking up early then spending the rest of the day on the trail. I was able to leave work a little early on Friday and then made it to Windber, PA by 7pm to join my trail crew at a local restaurant, in Johnstown, PA.

They had amazing burgers and beers by the way, we ended up eating there the next night too! I rolled into town the first night and went straight to the restaurant since they were going to close by 8pm due to COVID hours.

When I got to the Sleep Inn, I was greeted by this sign:

It’s a sight to see all my friend’s trailers taking up a chunk of the parking lot.

We had a great crew with us, all with well built Jeeps ready to take on just about anything the trail could throw at us. After a dinner and a couple beers in the parking lot back at the hotel we were ready to take on the day Saturday morning.

The terrain was really great. Very rocky (my favorite), and it was interesting because it was dry but the rocks really moved when your tires touched them, so every Jeep over a path ended up with a different experience. Doe Valley has a ton of trails and we got to experience about 7 miles of them, definitely would like to return and explore some more.
